Doctor of Physical Therapy with specialized training in
Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM), PEMF Therapy, Visceral
Manipulation, Pelvic Health,
and Yoga for Physical Therapists.
Dr. Madelyn Lamar Altman is a Doctor of Physical Therapy that can treat conditions from your head to your toes and everything in between, because she has training in all areas of Physical Therapy with additional specialized training in Pelvic Health. This allows her to treat everything from neck and shoulder pain to pelvic floor dysfunction. Dr. Madelyn believes that all people deserve to feel empowered on their journey to optimal health, and she provides a nurturing, collaborative space where the patient can feel seen, heard, and understood.
Dr. Madelyn’s practice is integrative – what does that mean? It means that Dr. Madelyn takes an extensive history and uses her knowledge of functional medicine, frequency medicine, the human body, and the human condition to see YOU as the magnificent being that you are, instead of just a person with knee pain, back pain, or pelvic pain. Instead of seeing only the pain, Dr. Madelyn strives to answer the why – She focuses on getting to the root cause of dysfunction by providing customized, whole person care with Physical Therapy which allows you to reach your goals faster and feel better!
Dr. Madelyn takes a contemplative, holistic approach to help clients identify the underlying causes of dysfunction through the use of established Physical Therapy modalities such as soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, and therapeutic exercise, as well as Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM), behavioral strategies, mindfulness, meditation, pain science, and visceral manipulation to encourage healing, facilitate optimal recovery, and move toward embodied awakening from the inside out. What makes FSM with Dr. Madelyn different from other providers? - Not only does Dr. Madelyn use FSM in almost all of her treatment sessions, she tailors the frequencies to support the client and what is happening in their body, because individualized protocols result in better outcomes.
Dr. Madelyn equips patients with knowledge about what is happening in their bodies and why, empowering them with choices about their course of treatment. Her style is connecting, compassionate, affirming, and trauma-sensitive. Her goal is to give clients agency as they embark on their journey to healing. “I’m just a facilitator, and I’m here to help them and guide them, but they have the choices,” said Dr. Madelyn. “I think that’s really important, especially with clients who have either been in chronic pain or suffered trauma and have gone through the traditional medical model and likely eight to ten providers. I’m here to give them a personalized experience in a safe environment.”
Dr. Madelyn’s passion for helping others through healing began after her own injuries, surgeries, and recoveries. In 2008, recovery from an ankle fracture inspired her to pursue a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Later, after being diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia and labral tears, Dr. Madelyn decided to undergo two very invasive surgeries to align her hips and pelvis to allow her to return to an active lifestyle. While the recovery was arduous, the months of physical therapy gave her an appreciation for how resilient the human body can be and a deep understanding of the myriad of feelings that arise on the road to healing.
In 2015, after the birth of her third child, Dr. Madelyn had her own experience with pelvic dysfunction requiring pelvic physical therapy. Since then, she has made it her mission to educate her patients about their bodies and strives to provide a safe space for each patient to discuss pelvic issues without judgment or stigma.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Madelyn can be found hiking, doing yoga, traveling, and spending time with her family.
